Is PE just too much? You should join a sports team instead!

By Eduardo Galindo

At the beginning of the school year, Mills introduced a new program for sophomores athletes who are having trouble with completing their work. This program gives students a work period during their PE class which allows these students to get work done in their busy schedules.

The program provides a very useful benefit to those who need it. But the true benefit of the program is that you can avoid that tiresome PE class. If you are struggling in PE, join the program! It is a great way to avoid PE and all of the things you dislike about it, like exercise.

With PE gone, no more running miles around the field or doing one-arm pushups. Instead, it would be a day free from all of the exhausting exercises and a day to laze around in the class.

A whole class period to do anything you want. Take a nap or go on your phone and play games, or even set up a soccer game in class. The options are limitless. And all that is needed for the free period is to join a sport.

That is all that the program requires to join. And it could be any of the sports the school gives. It’s as simple as that, anyone can and should do it. Just sign up and you’re out of PE.

And you aren’t even graded for the duration of the sport, so that’s a class you won’t have to worry about.

There are no downsides to the program, all benefits. And all the free time you gain from the program will definitely not be counteracted by the time in the sport. Spending hours after school practicing for the next match or playing against other schools. It’ll be the best decision you make.

With this program’s popularity,  inexperienced students are getting accepted onto sports teams and overshadowing people with experience in the sport. There is nothing wrong with this at all. Now’s the chance to join, with wiser members being rejected you will have more of a chance to get accepted.

But if you’re not confident enough, attending multiple tryouts will give you a higher chance to get the free period. And get a pro athlete to train you while you’re at it, wouldn’t hurt to be more prepared.

In addition to skipping PE, the sweet reward of winning after a hard match will leave you with no regrets! The sports teams this year will be amazing, I can’t wait to see the games!

If you’re worried about missing a certain PE unit, just join that sport instead. Why participate in the swim unit when you can just join the swim or water polo team and dive into the sport headfirst? If drowning is avoided, students stand to learn a lot more from their more advanced peers, think first-hand experiences rather than boring beginner’s instruction.

Instead of participating in the soccer unit, join the soccer team and kick up a storm. If you are not confident in your soccer skills, just become a goalie, they don’t do much anyway.

Missing out on a golf unit in PE? Join our golf team with a small, upfront payment of about $900 for your personal club set that will send you into a future of strokes of luck.

Having to show up to PE three times a week is much more of a commitment than a sport, as the grueling, weeklong schedule of sports is much more manageable.

And why stop at joining a school sports team? Join a professional national team. The Warriors need a center, Jason Kelce’s position is open as he’s retired, just aim high and climb.

Join a sport, it will do you so well with all the free time you will have to relax.
