There are many things in the world that can inspire you. But what inspires others? This holiday season, Mills students and staff told us who inspires them.
Mr. Headley, a math teacher here at Mills has one specific person inspiring him. “Ken Jong inspires me. I love that he worked so hard at becoming a doctor but then decided he wanted to do something else and was brave enough to try to do that thing and to work on it. I’m inspired by how much he supports the people that he works with.”
Fellow Freshman Madelyn Galura has the people around her inspiring her. “My friends and classmates who do so well academically and athletically push me to be better myself. Hearing their achievements and about how much they’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time makes me almost envious, inspiring me to do more with my own life.”
Kylie Huynh, a junior here at Mills and Mills Girls Tennis team captain, has two people who really inspire her. “They’re [my parents, who are] great role models and they always try to lead me in the right direction in life. Their dedication and hard work, as well as their compassion and empathy for other people is what drives me partly, to do the same for others. It’s them that I look up to and I see the best of both of them in myself. I strive to do the right things as they do and I wouldn’t be who I am today without their inspiring life lessons and teachings.”
Graduating senior Preston Liu also has his parents inspiring him. “My parents inspire me because they’re always there for me and they always push me to do my best.”
Thinking about who inspires you can have a really big meaning to it. Whether it’s from your friends to your parents, inspiration comes from many different things.
