As summer comes to a close, we look back on the summer’s top albums that got us singing along. For example, Drake’s Scorpion came out on June 29th. With the release of 25 songs, eight of them reached the top 10 in just a week, breaking the Beatles record of having five tracks in the top 10. Most notably, “In my Feelings” triggering a huge challenge where people would hop out of their car and dance to the song as the car moves. A month later, Travis Scott dropped Astroworld with several songs in the top 30 and “Sicko Mode” with the #4 spot in the Hot 100 Charts. Soon after, Queen by Nicki Minaj came out, and within a week, Ariana Grande released Sweetener. Both albums made its debut by hitting top 10, a great achievement for both as female artists. The legend, Eminem, came back into the rap game by dissing almost everyone, including Machine Gun Kelly in his album, Kamikaze. My personal favorite album, that has not been mentioned yet is Aminé’s ONEPOINTFIVE consisting of “BLACKJACK”, “TOGETHER”, “DR. WHOEVER”, and more.

In the past summer months, we mourned the deaths of Mac Miller and Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, also known as XXXTENTACION (X). Their legacy lives on through their iconic music, which extremely rose up after their deaths. Most evidently, X’s album, ?, with “Sad” and “Moonlight” and Mac Miller’s Swimming with “Self Care.” In addition to albums, singles also came along with songs such as “I Love it” by Kanye West and Lil Pump; “FEFE” by 6ix9ine featuring Nicki Minaj & Murda Beatz; and Chance the Rapper released, “65th & Ingleside”, “Wala Cam”, “Work Out”, & “I Might Need Security”. Cardi B made and was featured in numerous songs most importantly: “Girls Like You” and “Finesse”.

These songs are definitely tracks that we will be listening to in the future and that are going to become classics for teenagers. We are certainly looking forward to hearing these upcoming albums: Young Sinatra 4 by Logic, Good A** Job by Kanye West & Chance the Rapper, Carter V by Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino’s last record, and Post Malone’s work in progress album.
