On Thursday, November 7th, students of Mills High School were treated to an assembly surrounding sexual harassment, coercion, and assault. The presentation was given by author and activist, Anea Bogue, who has been presenting to all the high schools in the San Mateo District as an effort to create a “Culture of Consent.” During the 75-minute Real You presentation, Bogue shared definitions, stories, and passed on a lot of useful information. The Leadership Class then broke the school up by fourth period classes and led a 38-minute Mental Health Activity, including a follow-up discussion on the Mental Health Assembly two weeks ago, the signing of the Consent Posters, and the writing of letters to victims of domestic abuse through the non-profit, Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA), of San Mateo.
